The Hegen guide

Care that fits every component

Simple steps for your everyday routine.

Start with the part in your hand. Bottle bodies, lids, teats, utensils and pump components use different materials. Disassemble before cleaning and follow the instructions for the exact product and appliance.

Clean after use

Separate the parts, wash with baby-bottle detergent, rinse thoroughly and let them dry before reassembly. Use a gentle bottle brush and clean teat vents and straw interiors carefully. Avoid abrasive cleaners and wired brushes that can scratch surfaces. Standard bottle components can go on the dishwasher’s top rack; avoid sanitary-clean or heat-boost settings.

Sterilise with the right method

Standard Hegen PPSU bottles support steam, UV, sterilising tablets and boiled-water treatment within their instructions.

  • Boiled water: bring water to the boil, switch the heat off, then immerse components for no more than five minutes.
  • Steam, UV or tablets: follow the appliance or treatment instructions and respect each component’s limit.
  • Once the sterilising cycle is complete, remove the components as instructed and allow them to cool before reassembly.

Check the warmer, then the contents

Many warmers and sterilisers for wide-neck bottles can fit Hegen. Use approximately 7cm bottle width as a starting check, then confirm chamber height, capacity and the appliance’s instructions. Do not microwave breastmilk. Straw cups need non-carbonated drinks below 40°C; All-Rounder drinks also need to be below 40°C.

Inspect and replace

Hegen gives these general feeding-part replacement intervals. Replace sooner if you notice damage, deterioration or poor fit; pump parts have separate schedules.

Your questions, answered

What should I do before the first use?

Disassemble, wash and rinse all washable components, then sterilise using an approved method. Keep every part within its temperature limit.

How do I check whether a part can go in the dishwasher?

Check the product’s care instructions. Suitable standard bottle components use the top rack without sanitary-clean or heat-boost settings. Follow separate instructions for electrical devices and specially finished products.

How do I care for the electric pump device and tubing?

Keep the electrical device dry. Hegen’s standard electric-pump tubing normally does not contact milk and does not need routine washing. Follow your exact pump model’s manual for device and tubing care.

Can I keep a container for snacks?

Hegen permits repurposing PPSU containers that remain in good condition. Inspect them and replace damaged lids, seals or bodies.
